Pacificans are invited to participate in the American Tournament Chess Club’s
Fourth Pacifica Chess Open this Saturday, Aug. 5. at the Vista Del Mar Church,
1125 Terra Nova Blvd. Doors open at 9 a.m.
There will be two divisions of competition, both starting at 10 a.m. Division 1
(USCF rated players) will compete for a $300 first prize and $125 second prize.
Division 2 will compete for trophies only, no cash.
Round 1 is at 10 a.m., Round 2 is at 11 a.m., Lunch is at noon, Round three is
at 1 p.m., Round 4 is at 2 p.m., and Round 5 is at 3 p.m. The cash prize values
are based on a minimum of 20 division 1 players and 10 division 2 players
participating in the tournament. If minimums are not met, first prize will be
50 percent and second prize will be 20 percent of the total entry fee sum, up to
but not over the stated prize values.
Chess clocks available at the event for $24.95. Tournament chess sets (zipper bag,
chess pieces with 2 extra Queens and a roll-up board $24.99.
Registration after July 28 and at the door the day of the event is adults $40.00,
17 and under $25.00. Make checks out to American Tournament Chess Club. For more
