School is in session
Today members of the American Tournament Chess Club had the pleasure of conducting the first
of eight chess classes at Ortega
Elementary School in Pacifica. John Galpin, Pastor Peter Burch and
Edward Tobin, all representing the American Tournament Chess Club, were
invited to come and teach chess to students after school. With
approximately 21 students already registered in the new chess club, the
library filled up fast. Most students were already familiar with the
game of chess and 8 of the 10 boards and sets filled up fast as they got
down to playing chess. Pastor Peter, using one of the open boards, and
Mr. Galpin, using the portable Chess Demo Board taught the remaining students the basics of the game. |
